Alert rules
An alert rule is a condition Monitor checks on every round, such as “cycles below 5 TC for 15 minutes”. When it holds, the rule fires and notifies the receivers you chose. Open Monitor › Rules. You need to be an Admin.
-
Choose New rule.
-
Watch. Pick a Signal, such as cycles or memory, and which canisters: All monitored canisters, a Specific canister, or those From a tag.
-
Trigger. Set the comparison and threshold, then how long it must hold: Immediately, For 5 minutes, and so on. The preview draws your threshold over the last 6 hours of data.
-
Respond. Choose up to eight receivers to notify, or add one.
-
Review and save. Leave Enable after saving on to start checking straight away.
You can also start from a chart: in Telemetry › Metrics, drag across a range and choose Draft alert.
Alert states
Section titled “Alert states”| State | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Normal | The condition doesn’t hold. |
| Pending | It holds, but not yet for long enough. |
| Firing | It has held long enough. Receivers are notified. |
Missing data never clears a firing alert. It stays firing, marked as missing, until fresh readings show it has recovered.
Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”- From a tag saves the tag’s canisters at that moment. Adding a canister to the tag later doesn’t add it to the rule.
- Cycle thresholds use TC: 1 TC is 1 trillion cycles.
- If you leave the editor, your draft is kept in this browser. Resume draft on Rules picks it up.
- Rules check only while Monitor is on.
- To top up a canister when it runs low, use Automatic top-ups rather than a rule.
