Create a canister

Create an empty canister on the Internet Computer, paid from your OISY wallet. You’ll deploy its code afterwards.

  1. On the Canisters page, open the ⋯ menu and choose Create a canister.

  2. Name it and choose where it runs. Keep the automatic subnet, or pick one. icLens only offers subnets you’re allowed to deploy to.

  3. Choose its starting balance. Pay with ICP or cycles. Creating a canister uses some cycles, so it starts with a little less than you send.

  4. Choose its controllers. You are always one. Add your Agent only if it should manage this canister.

  5. Review and pay. The review shows the total your wallet pays, including network fees. Approve it in OISY.

When it’s done, icLens checks the new canister: where it runs, that it’s empty, and its controllers. Then choose Review adding to add it to a list.

Good to know

  • Creation runs as You, paid from your wallet, whichever workspace you’re in.
  • If you leave before paying, your choices are kept in this browser. If you leave after paying, reopen the same flow to finish: it never charges twice.
  • A new canister has no history yet, so icLens can’t estimate its runway until it has run for a while.
