A canister's pages
Open any canister to see its pages. The header always shows its name, ID, state and signals, with quick actions such as top up, snapshot and stop.
| Section | Use it to |
|---|---|
| Overview | See health, cycles, memory and signals at a glance. |
| Timeline | See changes, logs and live calls over time. |
| Cycles | Read runway and burn, and top it up. |
| Code | Deploy, verify a build, stop, start or uninstall. |
| Snapshots | Take, restore and delete recovery points. |
| Settings and access | Change controllers, viewers, limits and environment variables. |
| Web and domains | Serve its website on your own domain. |
| API | Call its Candid methods. |
| Placement | See its subnet, and move it to another one. |
Before any change
Section titled “Before any change”Every change opens a review. Check three things before you confirm:
- The canister: its name and full ID.
- Who runs it: you, or an Agent. See Workspaces and Run as.
- What happens: the review says what changes and what it costs.
If a change’s reply is lost, icLens checks the canister before it lets you try again, so nothing happens twice by accident.
Canisters you don’t control
Section titled “Canisters you don’t control”Any canister can be inspected. For canisters you don’t control, icLens shows what is public: code, controllers, subnet, live calls and its API. Private figures such as cycles and memory appear as Controllers only.
