Settings and access
A canister’s Settings and access section shows who controls it, who can read it, its resource limits and its environment variables.
-
Choose Edit settings and change what you need.
-
Review the exact changes, and choose who runs them. Removing a controller asks you to type the canister’s name.
-
Confirm. icLens reads the settings back to check every change landed.

Give an Agent access
Section titled “Give an Agent access”The simplest way is to add the canister to the Agent with Add to…: its review makes the Agent a status viewer (Observe) or a controller (Control) for you. Your canister list.
Here you can also use Add controller and Remove controller, and edit the viewer lists directly.
Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”- Anyone who can read the canister’s status can also read its environment variables. Don’t put secrets there if status is public.
- Removing the last controller leaves nobody able to manage the canister.
- Removing yourself can succeed but leave you unable to check the result. Make sure another controller remains.
- If the result says Accepted · not verified, read the settings again before trying another change.
