Storage and retention

Your Agent keeps metrics, logs, traces, audit events and AI history in its own memory. Open Agent › Storage to see how much each uses, how fast it’s growing, and how long it’s kept.

  • Stored: what the Agent holds now.
  • Reusable after cleanup: space freed by cleanup, ready for new data.
  • Growth: how fast it’s filling up.
  • Telemetry: one card each for Metrics, Logs and Traces. Each opens its data connection, where you set how long it’s kept.
  • Other history: audit events, AI history, and automatic cleanup.

Cleanup frees space for new data, but the Agent’s memory doesn’t shrink: the Internet Computer never gives memory back.

You need to be an Admin.

  1. Choose Clean up data and pick what to remove.

  2. Choose the time: older than a number of days, or a date range.

  3. Calculate preview to see exactly what would go.

  4. Choose Delete previewed data as You. Large cleanups ask you to type DELETE.

Cleanup is permanent. Your canister list, People, dashboards, report definitions, rules and settings are always protected.

Under Other history, Edit policy sets how long audit events and AI history are kept, and turns on Automatic cleanup when storage passes a size you choose.

  • Engine maintenance tidies stored telemetry in the background. Its preset trades cost for speed; the default suits most Agents.
  • If a cleanup’s result is unclear, choose Retry same cleanup as You. It never removes more than the preview showed.
  • Exact limits and capacity planning are in the storage reference.
